Dalhousie Castle, Edinburgh Elopement

Matthew & Amanda knew the traditional wedding wasn't for them. They dreamed of intimacy, adventure and Castles.

They knew they would be travelling outside of their home country of Canada to tie the knot in a way that felt more authentic to them. They settled on Scotland and found the perfect backdrop in Dalhousie Castle.

Dalhousie Castle is just outside of Edinburgh making it an excellent spot for international elopers. It's Scotland's Oldest inhabited castle with over 700 years of history. Perfect for M & A who wanted to dive into Scotland's past and elope like royalty.

Their day began in separate rooms, a staircase between them, looking out over the surrounding lands. They got ready slowly, intentionally and looked back fondly over their relationship. As A buttoned up her dress & tied bows in her shoes, M enjoyed a whisky in the dark oak library.

M headed down to the chapel and waited quietly as his bride descended the stairs - following a traditional Scottish piper. In their ceremony they weaves their lives together through vows, the Quaich, Handfasting and finally jumping the broom together in their first step into married life.

The afternoon was sunsoaked and the pair enjoyed a classic car ride to some nearby ruins to explore more of Scotland.

As the sun set, they made their way back to the castle to share in dance and to eat by candlelight in the Dalhousie Castle Dungeon.

Afterwards they walked out into the twilight of this late summer evening, guided by lantern light.

Bethan & Thomas are two souls who found each other far from home, in Edinburgh. With its winding streets and enchanting villages to get lost in, Edinburgh is a place of romance. Designed for lovers to run to.

Both studying at the university, the pair have found a home in Edinburgh and each other and will be tying the knot later this year.

Their relationship is based on shared values and playfulness. On this sunny evening in early spring we joined them to capture their love in their favourite city ahead of their wedding day in Summer. The pair agreed to meet on the stone bridge over the river in Dean Village. They soaked up the setting sunshine and fell deeper in love,
